You lock your doors. You insure your home. But would you know if someone recorded a document under your name without your knowledge?
During a recent real estate training, we discussed title fraud—and my first thought was, “My clients need to know about this.”
Maricopa County offers a FREE Title Alert service that sends an email, text, or both when a document is recorded under a personal or business name you have registered to monitor.
Protect your name with free Maricopa County Title Alerts.
What Does the Alert Do?
It gives you a chance to review recorded activity and recognize something you did not authorize. An alert does not automatically mean fraud has occurred, but it deserves your attention.
The service monitors names rather than a specific property address. Alerts arrive after recording; they do not block a transfer or replace title insurance.
How to Sign Up
- Click the official signup link above.
- Enter your email address and the names you want monitored, including relevant name variations.
- Choose email, text, or both, and select your preferred language.
- Complete signup and activate your account through the confirmation email. Check your spam folder if needed.
Monitoring applies to documents recorded after signup. Keep your contact information current.
What If Something Looks Suspicious?
Review the document linked in your alert. If you suspect title fraud, report it to local law enforcement. You can also report it to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. Contact your title insurance company and a qualified real estate attorney for guidance.
