People are flocking to live in Scottsdale and Phoenix.
Maricopa County had the nation’s largest population growth in the year ending July 2016, according to U.S. Census Bureau population estimates released on March 23rd.
Maricopa County gained 81,360 people or about 222 people per day during that time, an increase of 1.95 percent. The county is home to 4.24 million people. It is the nation’s fourth largest county behind Los Angeles, Cook (Chicago) and Harris (Houston) counties.
Maricopa County primarily grew through the addition of 43,189 residents from net domestic migration, a measure of how many people move to or from an area versus other parts of the United States. The county also added 25,428 people from natural increase (more births than deaths) and 10,188 people from net international migration.
