Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Dignity Health is bringing a new facility to the East Valley that will specialize in caring for mothers, babies and children.
The five-story medical tower will contain 350,000 square feet of space on Dignity Health’s Mercy Gilbert Medical Center campus near the Loop 202 and Val Vista Road in Gilbert, Arizona. The facility will include 24 labor delivery rooms including six dedicated to high-risk patients, 46 postpartum beds and four Caesarean section rooms that will be operated by Mercy Gilbert Medical Center.
Phoenix Children’s will operate 50 pediatrics beds, a 12-bed pediatric emergency department, operating rooms and a 60-bed neonatal intensive care unit. The hospital currently has a 22-bed unit at the facility that opened three years ago.
“By joining forces again on this East Valley project we will be increasing needed services provided to families,” Linda Hunt, president and CEO of Dignity Health in Arizona, said in a press release.
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2018 and should be completed by 2020.
